Why Wi-Fi Struggles in Summerlin Homes
Summerlin homes are large, and a lot of them are two stories with a casita or a detached office on top of that. One router in a hall closet was never going to cover that footprint, and no amount of restarting it changes the physics. By the time you are three rooms and a staircase away from the access point, the signal has been through several walls, and in this valley those walls are not friendly to Wi-Fi.
The specific culprit here is stucco. Traditional stucco goes over expanded metal lath — a steel mesh — and steel mesh is close to the ideal material for stopping a 5 GHz or 6 GHz signal. That is why the back bedroom in The Paseos gets nothing and why the patio in Sun City Summerlin drops every call. The fix is not a stronger router. It is putting a radio in the part of the house that needs one, and feeding it properly.
Two Options, and What They Cost
There are two good ways to fix Wi-Fi in a home, and they suit different houses. Here is what each costs in hardware and how we decide which one is right for yours.

Option 2 — Whole-Home Mesh Wi-Fi
The right call when running cable would mean opening walls for little benefit, and for renters who need something that installs with no damage and moves with them. Why is my Wi-Fi so bad in the back bedrooms?
Distance plus stucco. Traditional stucco is applied over expanded metal lath, and that steel mesh blocks Wi-Fi effectively — especially the faster 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands. Interior walls, a staircase, and a few hundred square feet finish the job. A radio placed in that part of the house fixes it; a bigger router in the same closet does not.
Does my Summerlin West home already have network wiring?
Often, yes. Stonebridge, Reverence, and Redpoint builders commonly left a structured wiring panel in a closet and Cat5e or Cat6 drops to a few rooms. If yours has that, a wired access point system goes in quickly and performs far better than anything wireless can. We check the panel first thing.
Wired access points or mesh — which is right for my house?
If there is existing wiring, or we can reasonably run it, wired access points win: every AP gets a full-speed connection back to the router instead of spending half its radio time relaying. If running cable is impractical, a good Wi-Fi 7 tri-band mesh with a dedicated backhaul band is genuinely capable and covers most homes well. We look at your house and tell you which one your money is better spent on.
Can you cover the backyard and casita too?
Yes. Both are normal in Summerlin, and both usually need their own access point — a casita has its own walls, and a backyard has the house wall between it and everything else. An additional AP is the standard answer.
What does a system cost?
Hardware starts at $677 for a wired UniFi system (Dream Machine Pro, PoE switch, and one Wi-Fi 7 access point) or $499 for a premium Wi-Fi 7 mesh system. Those are starting hardware estimates and can change with the market. Labor is quoted per home after a walkthrough, because a two-story in The Ridges with a casita is not the same job as a single-story in Sun City.
How many access points does a large home need?
It depends on layout more than square footage. A long single-story can need fewer than a compact two-story with a lot of interior masonry. As a rough guide, most homes over about 3,000 square feet want at least two, and adding a third for a casita or backyard is common. We walk the house and confirm before quoting.
