This is the densest housing in the metro — condos, townhomes, apartments, and tightly packed subdivisions — and every one of those units has its own Wi-Fi shouting on the same handful of channels. The fix is different depending on the building. In a condo or townhome it is usually about better radios, smarter channel selection, and moving what can be moved onto the less crowded bands rather than adding more equipment. In a two-story Mountain's Edge or Rhodes Ranch home it is the familiar problem — distance and structure — and the answer is a second access point upstairs.

The stronger setup, and the one we recommend whenever cable can reasonably reach the access points. Every access point has a full-speed wired path back to the router, so nothing is relaying, and the whole network is managed as one system with clean hand-off as you move through the house.
The right call when running cable would mean opening walls for little benefit, and for renters who need something that installs with no damage and moves with them. Premium tri-band Wi-Fi 7 systems — eero Pro 7-class hardware, TP-Link Deco and similar — with a dedicated band the units use to talk to each other, which is what separates a mesh that works from one that does not.

Almost always interference rather than range. In dense buildings here you can see dozens of neighboring networks, all competing for the same channels, and older 2.4 GHz gear is the worst affected. Better radios, deliberate channel selection, and shifting devices onto 5 GHz or the much emptier 6 GHz band usually make an immediate difference.
Yes, and it is one of the few places the newest standards deliver an obvious real-world win. The 6 GHz band is far less crowded because comparatively little equipment uses it yet, and it does not travel far through walls — which is a disadvantage in a big house and an advantage when your neighbors are ten feet away.
Yes. In attached housing we work within what is yours to modify. That usually means a well-placed main unit plus one mesh node rather than in-wall drops, and it is generally enough for a townhome footprint.
Typically a main router downstairs and a second access point or mesh node upstairs, placed centrally rather than in a back corner. If cable can be run through the attic, a wired access point upstairs is the better version of that plan.
